Terms & Refunds

These terms govern bookings for Layer Zero Academy workshops, run by Layer Zero Studios under the trading name Layer Zero Academy.

1. Provider and legal status

Layer Zero Academy is an education offering of Layer Zero Studios, a South African sole proprietorship operated by Pieter Kemp (trading as Layer Zero Studios). It is not a separate legal entity.

2. Non-accredited training (important)

Layer Zero Academy workshops are non-accredited. Any certificate issued is a Certificate of Completion — confirmation that the named person attended and participated. It is not a registered qualification and carries no academic credit. We make no claim that our workshops substitute for formal or accredited education.

3. What you are purchasing

A workshop seat is access to a scheduled, facilitated hands-on session at a stated date, time, and venue, or online. The price is per seat and is shown at checkout in ZAR, exclusive of VAT (Layer Zero Studios is not VAT-registered). Payment is processed by Dodo Payments.

4. Cancellation and refunds

  • Cancellation by you: you may cancel up to 7 days before the session for a full refund. Cancellations within 7 days of the session are non-refundable, but you may transfer your seat to another person at no charge by notifying us in writing before the session.
  • No-shows: a seat not used and not transferred is forfeited and non-refundable.
  • Cancellation by us: if we cancel or reschedule a session (for example, insufficient registrations, venue, or force majeure), you may choose a full refund or a transfer to the next available session.
  • Refund method: approved refunds are returned via the original payment method through Dodo, within 7 business days.

5. Attendance, conduct and materials

You are responsible for bringing a charged device and any pre-work specified in your confirmation. We may decline to admit or may remove a participant whose conduct disrupts the session; no refund is due in that case. Workshop materials (prompts, templates, summaries) are provided for your personal use and may not be redistributed commercially without written permission.

6. Liability

Workshops are provided on an “as is” basis for educational purposes. To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, Layer Zero Studios (Pieter Kemp, sole proprietor) is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your participation, and our aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid for the seat in question.

7. Your data

Personal information collected during registration is handled per our Privacy Policy (POPIA).
